Japanese kimonos are beautiful, aren’t they?
What do you think is the last stroke that “completes” the kimono look?
That is – the “obijime“, which is tied gently in the middle of the obi.
In painting, it is like the last brushstroke before completion. Although small in size, it is an important part of the overall impression and adds a chic and elegant finishing touch to an outfit.

This “Obijime” is actually born from the traditional craft of “Kumihimo” (braided cord). Delicately dyed silk threads are carefully woven together by craftsmen using special tools – this is truly a piece of condensed Japanese “beauty.
